Limewire is amazing.

See… these are the kinds of things I use this for.

I love Shotime’s Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical… it’s absolutely hilarious, and the music is pretty well-written. I mean, c’mon, Reefer is pretty addictive (okay, bad pun). So, natch, I check to buy the Soundtrack. Guess what? Not only is it not available… it doesn’t look like they’re going to release one. However, all the tracks are on Limewire right now. I’m only missing the last track from the show.

This’ll hold me until the CD or DVD is released.

And I smile.

Again.

It’s been far too long since I’ve been to the Six Flags Great Adventure theme park in nearby New Jersey. I mean, that place is an intregal part of my growing up, and holds a special place in my heart. It’s the place I visited with my family when I was young, where I earned some stripes of manhood (riding “The Great American Scream Machine” for the first time), where some of my friendships were cemented, and it’s even seen some of my relationships tested. I guess I’m just jonesing for some Great Adventure love.

I’m jealous of Craig, as he gets to go after prom with Jessica. I’m sure they’ll have fun… and they’ll ride Kingda Ka long before I get a chance. Hell, I haven’t even gone on the Superman ride yet.

Anyhow, I was inspired to post about Great Adventure because, like everything in life, it has begun a certain amount of change. As I’ve mentioned before, Kingda Ka (the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world) has been added to the park as part of the new 11-acre Golden Kingdom section. I’d say that’s a fairly decent addition to the park. I wonder what they’re going to do next year to top that.

The Kingda Ka

Unfortunately, when something new comes, something old goes. This year, the victim was The Viper. Now, I know a lot of people didn’t love Viper, but I was certainly a fan. It’s sad to see the 9-year-old coaster go. Viper, thou shalt be missed.

Another thing I’m going to miss is the Lethal Weapon Water Stunt Spectacular, which has fallen to the wayside in favor of the Weekend Warriors water show. Now, I know that Lethal Weapon is getting to be a bit outdated, but it was one of those attractions that I loved seeing. I mean, bad acting plus things blowing up plus water equals gold mine, my friends. Either way, so long as the Batman Stunt Show remains in tact (and it doesn’t even have anything to do with Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins), then I guess I’m okay.

I can’t wait to go back to this park… I really hope I can put it on the agenda for the summer. Everything looks really well maintained in the pictures that I’ve seen online (thanks to sixflags.com, Great Adventure Source, and Amusement Pics). It’s so cool to see that the Great American Scream Machine is still getting repainted and everything looks brand new in its 16th year. It’s quite scary that I’m not all too much older than that roller coaster. Hmm.

The Great American Scream Machine looks better than ever

Anyway… what I guess I’m saying is… anyone up for Six Flags this summer? Slafta? I know you are.

I’ve been spending a great deal of the day being creative to this point (read: I haven’t got out of the room much… unless you count a trip to K-Mart), finally returning to the big musical venture I’m writing that has half a script and bits and pieces of a few songs.

I’m happy to report that I have successfully finished the “first draft” of one song from the show… which I’ll refer to on the internet as “Whole Lot of Love,” for now. The melodies alone run about 2:52, when placed together… and that’s not taking into account the music that will come in between the five parts of the song and the dance thrown in between the fourth and fifth part.

Sa-wee-heet.

The way I figure it, I’ll at least have something to show Blake when I get back to the land of the Rock for the summer… and it’s got me working on this script again, which I’ve neglected for a large part of the year. I really hope to have the first draft of the whole show done by the end of the summer, so that I can clean it up a bit during the fall and the winter for submission to the New York Musical Theatre Festival next year.

Hopefully, I’ll get some people to help me out and read the parts at the end of the summer.

I’m certainly hopeful!
