I’ve been listening to Reefer Madness a bit too much lately. I really want to do a production of that show one day (probably because I’d never be cast as Jimmy Harper — I’m far too tall; I could make a pretty good Jesus though, and I’d love to be Ralph as well). I can’t wait for the DVD to come out this October.

Stephen Lynch never fails to put a smile on my face.

I just got back from Toys “R” Us, where I finally got Craig his birthday present. I ‘m quite glad that I didn’t get any of the things that I considered buying him when Stacey was here over the weekend, because (apparently) his girlfriend Jess bought them all for him. So, that’d be the Ruthless Aggression series 13 William Regal, Rosey, and Shelton Benjamin figures, and the Adrenaline Series 11 Billy Kidman / Paul London and Paul Heyman / Heidenreich 2-packs. That’s literally everything I was considering buying him (that I actually saw available for purchase in stores, at least). I mean, that’s absolute insanity — that’s a lot of money on wrestling figures… even for me.

“Black Water” makes me think of Slafta, Alaimo, Kaiman, Kate, and Shannon.

I ended my craving for slyders today with a trip to White Castle. You know, I think I really hate myself subconsciously, and that’s why I do these things to my body.

Family Guy returns this week after a two-week hiatus. I’m excited.

Of course, just as I typed that, I realized that it’s running up against the 2005 Tony Awards.

Going to AADA has been an incredibly rewarding experience. On top of learning more about my craft than I ever have before, I got to meet a bunch of people that I never, ever would have had the chance to otherwise. I really want to find a way to Europe to visit some of my overseas friends when school’s not in session. Hopefully, I’ll get back in to school next year. I mean, I have no reason to freak out about the 2nd year selection process (my grades have been good, and I think I’ve been performing well thus far in Exam Plays) but I have been for some reason. I need to start making a backup plan, because I haven’t really thought about that yet. I’ll know either way in about 2-3 weeks.

I need a haircut.

You may notice thet “Sarah Fan” button in the sidebar of the website. Let me explain. I’m not a One Tree Hill fan. As a matter of fact, I’ve never watched an episode in my life (even though the guy who played Minkus on Boy Meets World is an occasional cast member, proving that he is, in fact, alive). Sarah was in my class first term. As a matter of fact, she was my first partner for repetition exercises. I happened to come across that fansite the other day, based on the few episodes of One Tree Hill she did before auditioning for The Academy… and I decided to link it up. It’s funny. Well, to me at least.

Well, I’m off to watch the remainder of tonight’s “That 70’s Show” mini-marathon.

Ahh, rehearsal. How I’ll miss it so next week at this time.

Once A Catholic started with a bit of troubling news. Missy (Mother Basil) was bit by a spider the other day and had an allergic reaction. As a result, she missed rehearsal yesterday. After class, I learned that she was admitted to the hospital, where she got an I.V. providing her with constant antibiotic, which wasn’t working as well as they had hoped. Today, in rehearsal, Pam made some calls and discovered that Missy will be released from the hospital tomorrow but not in time for the show. As a result, Barbara Eaker (who was my partner for Medea) will be assuming the role of Mother Basil in performance.

Unfortunately, though, she couldn’t rehearse with us the whole time, so we forged on without a Mother Basil for most of the rehearsal, doing our best to read the lines in the absence of a permanent performer. Despite the loss, rehearsal today went quite well. I think that my singing bit during the first scene came off better than it has in the past, which is a good omen for tomorrow. Also, I was quite surprised with myself, as I actually remembered who I was asking what questions and what order they’re supposed to go in. So, from my perspective, I did well today. The run also had its other moments — the scene between Kyle S. Beaver and Leila Moore is probably the best part of the show. It should just end there. They’re both just… perfect. I also enjoyed Barbara’s interaction with the cast. There were little comedic bits that came completely from moment-to-moment work, and it was brilliant. I’m looking forward to this show going up tomorrow — it’ll be great.

Hound was fun, as well… as it was our dress rehearsal day. During the other three dress rehearsals I’ve been involved with at The Academy (The Dancers, A Far Country, and Once A Catholic) the procedure was fairly normal — run through the show once, in costume, make sure that the sound and lighting cues are in place, and then get notes for the work you’ve done. But, ordinary procedure is not quite what T. Ryder Smith is known for inside the walls of 120 Madison Ave. Instead of running the show, we went from technical cue-to-cue, doing bits and pieces of the show along the way. In fact, we never ran through the entire show once. Admittedly, I’m quite worried about that. I’ve never really worked in the space of the MM Theatre before. I guess I’ll have some time tomorrow to get used to it, though.

The super-cool thing about rehearsal today, however, was the gun. Instead of a cheesy gunshot sound, I’ve got a gun to use for the stage. It’s a little more intense than a cap gun, but it doesn’t have a hole where it should have one and nothing is fired out the front. It was fun to play with… but it’s loud as all hell. Kind of scary. The other fun, cool thing about today’s rehearsal was getting to hear the “BBC Voice” announcements on the radio, voiced by (none other than) Jim DeMonic. It’s pretty damn cool that, in a roundabout way, Jim is part of our cast.

We also got confirmation today that our show is in fact different than the show that’s going up two hours before ours — which is a good thing. Apparently, we do a little bit where Mrs. Drudge goes a tad slap-happy that’s not in the other cast’s show, and according to Derek, the males in the other cast were instructed to dress in black-and-white only, whereas we didn’t have that instruction. Also, I’ve got my fingers crossed that Derek and I do completely different things at the end of the show (mostly because, as I stated yesterday, I came up with my actions).

Getting a bit nervous — I mean… ONCE A CATHOLIC PERFORMANCE TOMORROW!
