I can’t believe it’s almost 8:00 already! Damn, the day flew!

Joel, Stephanie, and I boarded the C-Train and headed towards Brooklyn around noon, hoping to arrive at Adam’s by 1PM. One subway transfer and about ten blocks down, we arrived — albeit about 20 minutes late. Luckily, neither Cary nor G had arrived yet, either… so we didn’t feel too bad about it.

We ran through the show a couple of times — hopefully, it managed to make the show a little quicker. First and foremost, I have to remember to anticipate my lines a bit more. For the first time, paying attention to the scene and actually listening to all the dialogue is becoming a detriment to me. It’s making me late on my cues — for some reason I’m getting so absorbed in listening to the play that I’m forgetting when to speak. Strange.

Anyway, one of Adam’s roommates asked if there was a football game going on anywhere around. When we asked why, she said she heard noises that sounded like a football game, followed by a high-pitched sound that stopped the noise every now and then. Turns out, it was me, Joel, and Criss (sometimes Adam, too) during one of the first scenes. Excellent — one of my scenes sounds like a football game. I’m proud of that.

We scheduled another rehearsal for tomorrow — approximately 2:30 at Angela’s (also in Brooklyn) — and hopefully T will be able to get there.

Post-rehearsal, Steffie, Joel, G, and myself made a little trip to Cold Stone Creamery. There’s nothing like bonding with the cast over a cup of chocolate devotion. While there, we all discussed our plans for post-Academy life, expressed our concern (or neutrality) about second year, and career ambitions.

It’s days like this that I’m gonna miss.

Right now everyone’s been out partying for a good three and a half hours celebrating Sarah (yes, the same Sarah that I’m a “fan” of) and Steffie’s mutual birthdays. I didn’t go at 8 because my parents were coming in to hang out with me, but now, it’s almost 11:30, and I’ve nothing to do for a while but go to sleep — which I’m not quite ready to do.

*Sigh*

Oh, well. I guess I do have to wake up early tomorrow.

Kind of.

Okay, not really… but, it’s good practice.

And so, my long-in-the-works stage musical is finally coming to fruition. I can’t believe that I’ve actually been getting up off my ass and writing — even if I’m only writing bits and pieces at a time. I figure if I can write at least one song every weekend, then I’ll have the week to shape the script around that song (or vice versa), and I’ll be finished in almost no time. So, yesterday, I set to work for this weekend, writing the first part of a four-part opening number. The number itself is called “Morning Rush,” and the first part is subtitled “The Silence Before the Storm” (yes, I know, all very original, indeed). After finishing that one up, I started on “The Devil” — a song intended for the end of Act One.

I’d say I’m on decent pace to finish a fairly decent draft of this thing by the deadline for the New York Musical Theatre Festival ‘06. The festival, about to enter its second year, already has a decent track record. I saw Like You Like It there last year (which was great — I can’t wait for it to resurface in New York), but there were plenty of other successful shows there — including Altar Boyz, which is currently running Off-Broadway.

I think I’ve got a chance.
