“Inspector Hound” Rehearsal #2
Today’s rehearsal process lasted for quite a long time today — although it didn’t feel like it (yet again).
I met with Steffie, Criss, and Angela downstairs at the New Yorker, and after a quick cup of coffee, we hopped the A-Train downtown, transferred again to the G, and ended back up in Brooklyn, where we went to Angela’s. Angela has a really nice place. I’m quite jealous of both Adam and Angela, actually. They have very cool apartments. I am not, however, jealous of their hour-long journey to Manhattan for class.
We had to wait for Joel (who was waiting at the New Yorker for us before he left), G, and Adam (who was apparently buying socks in Manhattan) before we could get rehearsal underway… so we had some downtime. Steff, Criss, and Angela headed up to the roof to spend some time in the sun while Cary and I sat around and talked about stand up comedy. G soon showed up, followed shortly by Joel, and lastly Adam (who arrived by bicycle, which is impressive because it was particularly hot out).
Anyway, after running lines a couple of times and cleaning up certain spots that need to be synchronized, we all headed up to the roof — where we set up a representational set and began to run the show, with a stopwatch running throughout. Somehow, we got through the show in around 47 minutes… so, as far as speeding up the show, mission accomplished. Unfortunately, we have to factor in pauses for laughter, the BBC Voice announcements (which we skipped over), and any other unforseen circumstances.
Well, we’ve got a day to continue cleaning and tightening up some spots. More than enough time.
After the run, we all just sat about and talked a little bit over tortilla chips, which was fun. Hours later (that felt like minutes), it was 7:30, and time to head back to Manhattan if we wanted a chance at watching any of the good TV tonight (the Tony Awards & Family Guy).
Hopefully, I’ll get to sleep early tonight, as I still plan on waking up to see the shows at 9AM tomorrow.
