Although Disney is a hollow shell of what it once was, every now and then they release a gem or two. Most of their Pixar projects have proven that they can be (at the very least) slightly involved in something successful.

Many don’t know this, but, earlier this year — Disney purchased the rights to the Muppets from the Henson Corporation. Immediately following the purchase, the Muppets appeared on Saturday Night Live, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Today Show, and a made-for-TV movie on ABC. Rumor also has it that they’ve recorded a Muppet American Idol parody, and they’re busy filming a new version of The Muppet Show over in the UK as we speak.

The Muppets are being ressurrected.

A couple of years ago, I thought it would be funny if the Henson Corporation made a deal with the Food Network to give the Swedish Chef a series of shorts between their regularly scheduled programming. I figured they’d be quick and people would love them.

Using the internet, I believe that Disney has come up with far superior idea.

Somewhere, I’m sure that Walt and Jim are smiling.
