Since I’ve last blogged, I’ve had the opportunity to eat at a couple 0f places that I felt were blog-worthy.

CRIF Dogs
113 St. Marks Pl. (b/w 1st Ave. & Ave. A)
Although I became a die-hard supporter of Nedick’s upon its recent return, I would have to say that CRIF dogs would be the place I’d frequent more often if I were closer to the East Village. I don’t know why one wouldn’t go to a place that would willingly put cream cheese on a hot dog. Gross? Maybe… but so are hot dogs. Waffle fries and home fries make this place a plus, not mentioning the action figures on the walls (which remind me of home), the 80’s arcade games, and decent movies playing all day long. The more expensive dogs are around $4… but you’ll really eat like a king with $10.

The Magnolia Bakery
401 Bleecker Street @ 11th St.
Saturday Night Live piqued my interest, and I made the journey down to Magnolia… to “mack on some cupcakes.” I was not, in the slightest, disappointed. The frosting on these cupcakes made it worth waiting outside on a long line in the freezing cold, where one could watch people frosting cakes from the warmth of the petite bakery. Although I may be interested in purchasing this (for the cost of under 1 dozen cupcakes) to see if the journey to the West Village is, in fact, unnecessary. Cupcakes - $1.75 each.

The New York Burger Co.
303 Park Avenue So. (b/w 23rd St. &24th St.)
High-quality meat and chicken make the New York Burger Co. a plus, before you even take a bite. Once this is done, you’ll be ten times happier you went here. The place has an atmosphere that is somewhat reminiscent of a fast-food joint, without being quite so depressing. Voted #1 in AOL Citysearch’s Best Burger in NYC for a reason, you’ll be glad you came. There’s a plethora of sauces for your food (red pepper ketchup and chipotle honey, to name names), and apparently they’ve got some award-winning onion rings. Be prepared to drop at least $10 for a burger, fries, and a Coke.
