For some reason, this year seems to be a sort of rejeuvenation of sorts for television. Unfortunately, as many new sitcoms and serials premiere, some old favorites are forced to the curb. Earlier this season, Fox’s cancellation of Arrested Development left many viewers shocked and a bit upset. This past week saw the final episode of 7th Heaven (not that I care… it’s just another statistic), last night Malcolm in the Middle ended its TV run, and in the next few days That 70’s Show, Will & Grace, Alias, and Charmed will all post their final chapters.
With all these recent cancellations, it’s a wonder that anything good is still left on television.
Where comedy is concerned, I believe that one must look no further than NBC. Shows like The Office and My Name is Earl are being heralded as the return of the sitcom, although not many viewers tuned in this past week to watch their respective season finales. My pesonal favorite, Scrubs, is saying goodbye to this season with an hourlong season finale tomorrow night, at 8pm.
The cast and crew of Scrubs actually thought that they were cancelled earlier this year while they were still in production, as they hadn’t heard from NBC when the episodes of their show would air on TV. With uncertainty in the air, the show needs as many viewers as it can possibly get.
Many people are put-off by the show, because it’s not your typical sitcom. The characters are changed on a week-to-week basis in such a way that one singular episode may not make sense to people, because they haven’t seen the episode that aired three weeks ago. In fact, last week’s episode My Deja Vu My Deja Vu relies so heavily on jokes from the past five seasons that it probably wasn’t all that funny to those who aren’t die-hard fans.
All I’m saying is, check out Scrubs tomorrow night on NBC. I’m sure it’ll be good for an hour’s worth of laughs. If that doesn’t work for you, add the First Season DVDs to your Netflix queue… you may find you’ll form an addiction.

I like how you are promoting net-flix even though you yourself don’t use it.
